Reporting Live About Pentecost

Students were arranged in small groups and invited to imagine that it is Pentecost 2,000 years ago and they are reporting live from Jerusalem.
Everyone enjoyed recalling and acting out the day Mary and the disciples received the Holy Spirit promised by God.
Group members played the parts of the Blessed Mother, the disciples, a reporter and the crowd.
The reporter from each group asked those who were present at Pentecost about the amazing events they witnessed.
The groups took turns presenting their live broadcasts to the class.

Making An Anemometer

Students created their own anemometers with help from the 8th Grade.
We used paper cups, push pins and sharpened pencils with an eraser to make the anemometers.
An anemometer is an instrument used to measure wind speed and direction. It is usually made of several small cups attached to a vertical shaft. As the wind blows, the cups rotate, making the rod spin.
Anemometers are important tools for meteorologists who study weather patterns.
Wind will catch the cups and rotate them, the rotations are counted and wind speed is calculated.
